Swiss Golfer Luca Galliano Claims Victory at the 2025 Ein Bay Open
Egypt, February 21st, 2025 – With a score of 13 under par (65-68-70), Switzerland’s Luca Galliano emerged victorious at the 2025 Ein Bay Open, the inaugural event of the 2025 Alps Tour season. Under sunny skies, with winds picking up on the final holes and a course made more challenging by tricky pin positions, the tournament delivered a thrilling battle at the top. A bogey on the 15th hole hinted at a potential playoff, but a birdie on the 17th followed by a steady par on the 18th secured Galliano his first Alps Tour title.
Finishing just one stroke behind at 12 under par, Ireland’s Ronan Mullarney (68-69-67) and Spain’s Mario Galiano Aguilar (65-69-70) tied for second place.
Italy’s Giovanni Manzoni (64-68-73), who led after the first and second rounds, slipped to fourth place at 11 under par. His title hopes were dashed by a costly double bogey on the 4th hole and a bogey on the 8th.
The fifth position, at 10 under par, was shared by Filippo Bergamaschi (Italy), Ignacio Gomez Osuna (Spain), Maxime Legros (France), Michael Hay (Ireland), and Alvaro Hernandez Cabezuela (Spain). Spain’s Osuna posted the day’s best score of 66, highlighted by a sensational start: beginning on the 10th hole, he completed his front nine in just 29 strokes, scoring six birdies, an eagle, and a bogey.
Defending champion Aymeric Laussot of France finished in a tie for 10th place alongside four other players.
FINAL ROUND PLAYERS QUOTES
Luca Galliano from Switzerland clinched his maiden Alps Tour title, marking his first international win. “I’m absolutely thrilled right now and a bit emotional,” Galliano said. “I played really well across all three days, and I owe a huge thanks to my swing coach and sports coach for their work this winter. They’ve helped me immensely, both technically and with my mindset on the course. I’m truly delighted.”
Looking ahead, Galliano plans to compete in the full Alps Tour season. With a lower category on the Challenge Tour, he hopes his success might earn invitations from the Swiss Federation. “My main focus remains the Alps Tour, it’s my primary goal,” he added. “Always believe in it! If you work hard, sooner or later it pays off.”
Ireland’s Ronan Mullarney expressed satisfaction with his season opening. “I’m really happy with how I’ve started and pleased with my game,” he said. “My scores were fairly consistent over the three days. I had one bogey today on the sixth, but I bounced back with two birdies in the next three holes. On the back nine, I putted well and notched four birdies.” Mullarney now shifts his focus to the next two tournaments scheduled for the following week.
Spain’s Mario Galiano Aguilar delivered an impressive showing, finishing second. “It was a really great tournament,” he said. “I’ve been playing solid golf for the last five or six months. I knew I had a chance to win today with a good round, but it was tough, windy conditions, tricky pin positions, and hard to get close to the flag. I had plenty of birdie chances between three and five meters, but it wasn’t my day to convert them. I’m happy with second and hope to be in contention again at the next event to push for the win on the final day.”
Luca Galliano earned the winner’s check of €6,200 and 6,525 Order of Merit points.
Tomorrow, the traditional Sokhna Pro-Am is scheduled, while starting Monday, February 24, all players will compete on the A&B courses of the Sokhna Golf Club for the Red Sea Little Venice Open.
